DVD: Alison Krauss, A Hundred Miles or More, (Decca/Rounder)
An hour "in the studio" with the purest musician in America, watching her do songs from her last, elegant but over-finessed album. For a woman who places so much emphasis on naturalness and authenticity, she must really like her make-up artist, who appears to have done the job with a spatula and blowtorch.
Nice outfits, though. And hair. The music? Nine songs, starting with "You're Just a Country Boy", performed with eminent guests in a hallowed atmosphere, plus interviews. About as natural and spontaneous as a 'Vogue' cover shoot.

Perhaps you might like to mention that this performance was for a special aired on the Great American Country Channel, hence the spatula and blowtorch as you so eloquently put it. Alison Krauss has one of the finest voices ever and you wish to concentrate on the clothes, hair and make up without even mentioning the the delivery of these songs. As for the eminent guests appearing with her you do them a great disservice by not naming them here as they ar some of the greatest with their chosen instrument, but obviously you ran out of room as the make up was extreemly more important. I look forward to more of your wonderful reviews.
