Rhys Lewis review, The Lexington, London
The Lexington is packed - its low lighting evoking a real sense of intimacy ahead of Rhys Lewis' headline show.
Ferris & Sylvester bring their contagious blend of country as an opening act, with "London’s Blues" from their debut EP Made in Streatham providing a rambunctious rockabilly vibe. "Better in Yellow" is lovely, its trumpet instrumental injected throughout delivered beautifully.
Rhys Lewis enters the stage to an eruption of applause. The opening verse “Been a sinner and a saint, crazy and sane, I’ve been living in the city too long” is delivered superbly.
"Bad Timing" has a sublime energy that storms the stage, but the undeniable highlight of the night however is "Reason To Hate You" - Lewis' live performance is utterly enthralling; affirming the sense that this young talent has a very promising career ahead of him.
