British actor and comedian Paul Kaye has been cast in the ninth series of Doctor Who.
Known for playing Thoros of Myr in hit fantasy drama Game of Thrones, he rose to fame in the mid-Nineties as comic interviewer Dennis Pennis on The Sunday Show.
Now, Kaye will take up a guest role on the BBC’s sci-fi show, starring alongside Peter Capaldi’s Time Lord and Jenna Coleman’s companion Clara.
He will reportedly appear at the start of series nine as Prentis, possibly in first episode “The Magician’s Apprentice”.
Filming is already underway on Doctor Who, which is set to reach small screens later this year.

Some viewers may recognise Kaye from Being Human and Ripper Street, in which he played Vincent and Gabriel Cain respectively.
He will next be seen playing Vinculus in the TV adaptation of Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell.
Game of Thrones will return to US network HBO this coming spring, with a one-off preview special expected in February.
