Ever had an evening where you’ve scrolled endlessly through Netflix arguing over what to watch and ending up just turning the telly off?

Well, you can spare yourself such horror this Halloween as the streaming service has selected its favourite frightening films and TV shows for you.

For those after a bit of gore on Friday night the subscription channel offers up the Carrie remake starring Chloë Grace Moretz as the mixed-up teenager with telekinetic abilities; or there’s the slasher movies Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Saw: The Final Chapter.

You can sink your teeth Eli Roth’s gothic horror series Hemlock Grove; or try out the twisted delights of American Horror Story (this series had The Independent’s TV reviewer hiding behind the sofa).

For those more interested in laughter than bumps in the night there’s spoof horror Scary Movie. And for some old school haunting there's Insidious: Chapter 2.

Don't stay up all night.
