‘Enough is enough’: Iain Dale storms off GMB during debate on Tate gallery attack and social cuts

Broadcaster said the interview was not the ‘civilised discussion’ he was used to on the show

Radio presenter and broadcaster Iain Dale stormed off Good Morning Britain after accusing the show’s hosts of speaking over him.

Dale appeared with Nihal Arthanayake and Grace Blakeley to discuss Jonty Bravery, the teenager who threw a young child from the balcony of the Tate Modern last year.

This week, it emerged that Bravery, who has autism, had told his carers a year earlier of his desire to push someone from a tall London landmark.

The 18-year-old has admitted attempted murder after throwing the French child, who has spent months in intensive care, from the viewing platform in August.

Blakeley blamed the attack on a lack of funding in the care industry, and said that Bravery needed better care.

Dale disagreed, and attempted to cut in a few times before calling Blakeley’s comments “nonsense”.

He was spoken over as Blakeley and Arthanayake countered his arguments. Eventually, he announced, “Fine, I won’t speak.”

“No, I want you to,” host Kate Garraway interjected.

However, Dale refused and pulled his microphone off before walking from the set.

Shortly after the incident, he tweeted: “I enjoy my early mornings on @GMB with @Jacqui_Smith because they’re all about civilised discussion. Today’s was not. It was about closing me down. I decided it wasn’t worth hanging around. Apologies to @KateGarraway, @benshephard and @charlotteHawkns but enough is enough.”
