ITV rapped by Ofcom over I'm A Celebrity... trial involving Charlie Brooks' daughter

TV watchdog Ofcom has rapped ITV a trial on I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! which involved a seven-year-old child.

The ITV1 show involved the young daughter of EastEnders star Charlie Brooks in a stunt which was described by viewers as “exploitative”.

The ‘Door to Door’ challenge, where contestants in the show were asked to pick a door at random to receive prizes, drew 66 complaints from viewers.

Brooks, 31, who plays Janine in EastEnders, and darts ace Eric Bristow had to choose from a selection of doors that had treats behind them.

Brooks’ daughter Kiki was hiding behind one door but she was left disappointed after her mother unknowingly picked another door.

After viewers responded to scenes of a distressed Kiki Ofcom launched an investigation into the programme. The results of its investigation were published on Monday with the watchdog finding “serious concerns” at Kiki’s involvement in the adult reality television show.

ITV was found to have breached the broadcasting code for not showing viewers that Kiki had received support from production staff during the trial.

Brooks went on to be crowned Queen of the Jungle in the reality series.
