Following the announcement that The Great British Bake Off is moving from BBC One to Channel 4, Mary Berry - one of the baking competition's judges - pledged her allegiance to the channel that made it one of the UK's most watched television shows.

Now, her next project has been announced - Mary Berry's Secrets From Britain's Great Houses, a six-part series that'll see the personality explore the country's stately homes.

While there, Berry will be greeted by their occupants who will allow her to root around the building.

Don't worry food fans - she'll also be permitted to whip up some dishes in the kitchen in celebration of the building's culinary history.

Twitter reacts: Candice wins The Great British Bake Off final

The news was announced by BBC One controller Charlotte Moore who said: "This series will be a real treat for BBC One viewers to go behind the scenes with Mary Berry and explore Britain's great houses through her love of cooking."

The Great British Bake Off - which finished its final BBC last month - will see a shake-up following Channel 4's acquisition of Big Love Productions who recently blocked a Comic Relief BBC special. Presenters Mell Giedroyc and Sue Perkins are remaining with the BBC while Berry's co-judge Paul Hollywood will accompany the series when it moves. The presenter rumour is in overdrive with suggestions including everyone from Jo Brand and Richard Ayoade to The Chuckle Brothers.
