It's the moment we've all been waiting for! Here's what's happened so far...

  • Jaffa cakes turned out to be a nightmare all-round. Some contestants (Andrew) haven't actually ever eaten one
  • This week they have to make a mirror-glazed cake with a genoise sponge (ooh, fancy)
  • So far Selasi seems remarkably chilled out

Will it be the pastor who was a builder before becoming a baker, or the PE teacher who “bakes in her pyjamas”? The engineer who tries to “push the boundaries of baking” or the one who is “inspired by Far Eastern cuisine”? The new series of the Great British Bake Off is about to begin, meaning many of us will spend the next three months furiously debating the merits of marzipan, macarons and millefeuille.

2015’s show drew an average of 13.4 million viewers per episode, with Nadiya Hussain coming out as the series' winner. A year on and the baker has released a cookbook, titled Nadiya’s Kitchen. So who know's what's in store for this year's contestants?
