UK weather: The latest Met Office forecast

Those attending Pride in London can expect a largely dry and warm day but should be wary of a chance of rain in the evening, forecasters have warned.

Temperatures will hit low 20s after some decent sunshing, the Met Office said. But clouds will bring cooler weather and possibly some rain in the evening.

For the rest of the UK, there will be some warm sunshine in the south and bright but cooler weather up north, with the possibility of some isolated showers in northern Scotland.

“The weekend is not shaping up too badly - a little cooler certainly through Sunday than what it has been of late,” said meteorologist Luke Miall.

“But the story is mainly dry for most of us with the greatest chance of that rain on Saturday.”

The weather will feel noticeably cooler than the scorching heat and clear skies of last weekend, when the UK recorded its hottest day of the year so far (34C).

However, a more unsettled forecast is predicted for the coming week as temperatures drop before outbreaks of rain arrive from Tuesday onwards.

We are likely to see some warm and humid weather by midweek, which could bring some heavy showers and possibly thunderstorms as temperatures creep back into the mid to high 20s by the end of the week, said Dean Hall, from the Met Office.

The unsettled weather could pose a problem for Wimbledon fans as showers are likely in the middle of the week.

However, temperatures are expected to be a little above average for July as the tournament's final weekend approaches.

While it is likely to remain warm for much of the UK overnight, in the coming days but temperatures in Scotland and parts of northern England could drop to single figures.
