Burberry launches range of reusable and sustainable face masks in iconic check print

20 per cent of the sale of each mask is being donated to the Burberry Foundation Covid-19 Community Fund

Burberry is launching its first collection of designer face masks.

On Thursday, the luxury British heritage label announced that it is releasing a range of reusable face coverings in its iconic vintage check print.

The masks, which are available to shop online from today, feature two different colourways of the Burberry check, one in beige and another in pale blue.

The fashion brand adds that the masks are sustainably produced from revalued cotton fabric, provide Particle Filtration Efficiency (PFE) and are enhanced with antimicrobial technology. The company does not provide additional details on the medical credentials of this technology.

The masks come with a matching travel pouch, which is also treated with antimicrobial technology and additional styles are expected to launch in autumn.

As well as keeping you safe and elevating your stylish face-mask game, the coverings will also help support a great cause, with a portion of the sale of each mask being donated to the Burberry Foundation Covid-19 Community Fund, which continues to provide PPE, as well as assistance to food banks and healthcare charities globally.

“We are proud to be donating 20 per cent from the selling price of each face mask to the Burberry Foundation COVID-19 Community Fund operated by The Burberry Foundation (registered charity number 1154468) to support communities impacted by the pandemic globally,” the brand states.

The organisation was established in April this year for employees and partners around the world to support local communities in need. To date, contributions have been made towards relief efforts in Asia, Europe, the Americas and Africa.

This isn't the first time Burberry has offered its support during the coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier this year the company made donations to vaccine research, food bank charities and repurposed its Castleford factory in Yorkshire to manufacture non-surgical gowns for medical and care workers, while also sourcing surgical masks through its global supply chain. To date, more than 160,000 pieces of PPE have been donated.
