We love: Barbie

The Audit is most definitely a Barbie girl thanks to her envious roster of careers/accessories/companions. The latest incarnation is as fashion-forward as ever, picking up this year's dip-dye hair trend. Barbie Design Printables, £29.99 amazon.co.uk

We're not sure about: Heat up slippers

Warm and toasty slippers sound lovely don't they? But heating La Senza's lavender scented softies up in the microwave is decidedly less appealing – after all that's where you cook your baked beans... I mean steam your organic seasonal vegetables.

We're buying: World Aids Day

Yes 1 December is the day to start ripping open the doors on your Advent calendar, but for many years it has also marked World Aids Day. Each year Maison Martin Margiela shows its support by designing a T-shirt with contrasting text – a percentage of revenue goes to charity. £55, 020-7629 2682

We can't wait for: Shiny happy people

Your diary may be stuffed with soirees, but if you're simply full of cold. Fear not, as nothing will get you into the festive spirit faster than this set of luminescent polishes from salon brand Jessica. Each can be worn alone, or as a top coat – and will provide a wonderful foil to your red nose. £21.95, 0845 217 1360

We're saving up for: Lucky charms

The younger sibling of the Italian jewellery house Pomellato, this month Dodo opened its first UK store. It specialises in charms ranging from the sweet and sentimental (like this dachshund, £360) to the darkly humorous. 31 Sloane Square, London SW1
