Saturday : 2000 Clos d'Yvigne, Cuvée Nicolas, Bergerac Sec, £8.99-£9.95, Booths, Waitrose
Bergerac's Patricia Atkinson, the ex-City Englishwoman who owns Clos d'Yvigne, is not to be confused, as one paper did, with Pamela Anderson. This yellow-gold Bordeaux-style blend of sauvignon, semillon and muscadelle offers a characterful mouthful of rich flavours and Graves-like fruitiness. Perfect for marinated white fish or with roast cod.
Sunday: 2001 Torre Scalza Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, £5.24 (normally £6.99), Marks & Spencer
Smoky vanilla oak is played off nicely against the sweetly ripe plummy fruit side in this youthful, vibrantly fruity damson and cherry-fruity red made by Gaetane Carron. Reduced by £1.75 in M&S's summer wine sale (until 27 July), this south-east Italian rosso will serve both a barbecue and roast pork with crunchy crackling equally well.
Any day: 2002 Casillero del Diablo Chardonnay, 2 for £3.99 each, Majestic Wine Warehouses
With its opulently ripe flavours rounded by a touch of spicy oak and balanced by citrusy, pineappely freshness, this flavour-packed Chilean chardonnay from the breezy Casablanca Valley is really good value. Normally £4.69, you get 15 per cent off when you buy any two Chilean wines in Majestic's summer promotion. Anthony RoseReuse content
