Uber Eats advertises special deal for you and your bff for Valentine's Day

Today’s the day when singles everywhere find themselves bombarded with Valentine’s paraphernalia everywhere they look.

While many couldn’t care less that the consumerist day of love is finally upon us, Uber Eats is offering a delicious deal this Valentine’s Day that all singletons should take advantage of.

The food delivery company is giving friends the chance to buy one get one free from a number of restaurants featured on their platform and one of the nation’s favourite dishes, the doner kebab, is one of the meals included.

After carrying out research, Uber Eats concluded that the most popular meal ordered last Valentine’s Day was the doner kebab from German Doner Kebab, which is why it’s been included in the deal among 600 other restaurants.

Toussaint Wattine, general manager of Uber Eats, explained why they’re moving the focus away from relationships to highlight the power of love in general instead, both platonic and romantic.

“While many lovebirds will be out wining and dining on the 14th, this year we want to make Valentine’s period all about celebrating friendship and love whether you’re in a relationship or not,” he said.

“So if you’re still holding out for your soulmate or simply want to show your friends how much you care, ditch the single doner kebab and enjoy two meals for the price of one with your bestie.”

Uber Eats has named the period from February 14 to February 18 as #BFFWeekend.

As part of the week, they're offering their customers the opportunity to share the love with their friends and buy one get one free from several different restaurants over the course of the week.

Valentine’s Day isn’t the only significant event to have taken place this week.

Yesterday marked Galentine’s Day, a day where women across the world pay tribute to the strength of their female friendships.

Galentine’s Day, which was first coined by Amy Poehler’s character Leslie Knope in the sitcom Parks and Recreation, saw women everywhere take to social media to honour their amazing friends.

Rashida Jones, who co-starred in the hit US show, shared a photo on Instagram of her with castmates Amy Poehler, Aubrey Plaza and Kathryn Hahn marking the special occasion.

“Galentine’s Day! Forever and ever!” she wrote.
