GTA 5 release date for PS4, Xbox One and PC editions revealed

Next gen game will have 'new details to discover'

Rockstar is to bring its critically-acclaimed, record-breaking title Grand Theft Auto V to the next gen "this fall", confirming its arrival on PS4, Xbox One and PC with a new trailer.

The developer promised that the game will "take full advantage of the power of new generation systems to deliver the ultimate open-world experience."

The announcement has been awaited for some time, with the game launching on PS3 and Xbox 360 last autumn and having longevity thanks to its impressive multiplayer mode, GTA Online.

The trailer Rockstar posted on YouTube uses footage from the PS4 version, and in a blog it promised that the next gen version will feature "across-the-board graphical and technical improvements to deliver a stunning new level of detail. Increased draw distances, finer texture details, denser traffic, and enhanced resolution."

To the excitement of die-hard fans, there will also be "new details to discover" along with new wildlife and weather and damage effects.

Sony previously promised that GTA Online progress on PS3 will transfer across when you make the next gen leap, though story-wise you may have to start from scratch.

Graphical improvements will also take effect in Online, which recently received a High Life update bringing new vehicles, guns and missions.
