Jennifer Lopez’s exes Marc Anthony and Ben Affleck praise her in new magazine feature

Magazine feature celebrates Lopez’s impressive 30-year career

Jennifer Lopez’s exes have shared nothing but praise for the singer in a new interview, in which both Ben Affleck and Marc Anthony reflected on the singer’s work ethic and youthful beauty.

The two men, and numerous others, opened up about Lopez for an interview accompanying the May issue of InStyle, which sees the 51-year-old star on the cover.

In the feature, Anthony, who was married to Lopez from 2004 to 2014 and shares 13-year-old twins Emme and Max with the Hustlers star, said that his ex-wife is the “hardest worker” he’s ever met.

“The thing about Jennifer is her ability to see and understand things before they happen. Before she even brings an idea up, she has visualised it a thousand times. And if anyone says it might not be the greatest idea, she’ll say ‘You just don’t see it yet,’” he said. “Nine times out of 10, she’ll nail it. 

“She’s the first one in the room and the last to leave. The hardest worker I’ve ever met. When we were together, it was quite the opposite for me. That has changed since. I learned so much from her. She’s the original!”

Lopez’s ex-fiance Affleck also had only positive things to say about their time together, during which he said he was “completely humbled and blown away” by the I’m Real singer’s work ethic.

“I thought I had a good work ethic, but I was completely humbled and blown away by what she was committed to doing day in and day out, the seriousness in which she took her work, the quiet and dedicated way she went about accomplishing her goals, and then how she would go back and redouble her efforts,” he said of his former partner, who he began dating in 2002.

Although the couple never married, instead deciding to end their engagement in 2004, the Batman star also referred to Lopez as the “hardest-working person” he’s come across in the entertainment industry.

“She remains, to this day, the hardest-working person I’ve come across in this business,” he continued. “She has great talent, but she has also worked very hard for her success, and I’m so happy for her that she seems, at long last, to be getting the credit she deserves.”

Affleck also complimented the star’s appearance, with the actor joking that Lopez has been hiding the “fountain of youth”.

“Where are you keeping the fountain of youth? Why do you look the same as you did in 2003 and it kind of looks like I’m in my 40s…at best?” the 48-year-old questioned.

In response to the praise, Lopez said that her only beauty secret is her JLo beauty line, and that Affleck looks “pretty good too”.

However, she did acknowledge that she is in the “best shape of my life,” which she has achieved by working out harder and smarter than she did in her 20s and 30s.

“I do it more for my health than I do for looks, which is funny. When you do things for the right reasons, you actually look better!” she added.

In addition to the support from her exes, the feature also included insights from everyone from Michelle Obama to Donatella Versace, with all of those interviewed by InStyle expressing their admiration for Lopez.

“It goes without saying that Jennifer is one of the most beautiful and talented women in the world. But the greatest thing about her is that she is a kind and empathetic person. She is spectacular in every way, and I have tremendous admiration for her,” Tom Ford said, while the former first lady said that what she admires most about Lopez is her dedication to using her platform to give a voice to the voiceless.
