Prince Louis’ rainbow tribute featured in new birthday pictures

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have shared a previously unseen photograph of their youngest child, Prince Louis, to thank royal fans for their well-wishes on his birthday.

On 23 April, Prince Louis celebrated his second birthday.

To mark the occasion, the youngest of the three Cambridge children was photographed by his mother painting rainbow posters at the family’s Norfolk home, a variety of different coloured paints covering his hands and his cheeks in the pictures.

In honour of Prince Louis’s birthday, numerous royal fans sent well-wishes to the Cambridge family, as many do whenever the royal family‘s has cause for celebration.

Over three months later, well-wishers have received a letter of gratitude from Catherine and Prince William, which includes an unseen picture of their second son.

Several of the letter recipients shared photographs of it on Instagram, showing the photograph of Prince Louis on the front of the card.

“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge appreciated your kind thought in writing to Prince Louis as you did on the occasion of his second birthday,” the letter from Kensington Palace reads.

“This was greatly appreciated by Their Royal Highnesses who send you their best wishes.”

Last month, the Duchess of Cambridge spoke about the difficulty of teaching Prince Louis about the importance of social distancing amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The 38-year-old explained that Prince Louis is too young to comprehend social distancing and wants to “cuddle everything”.

“I was just saying, Louis doesn’t understand social distancing,” the duchess said while speaking to parents in a film shown on BBC Breakfast.

“So he goes out wanting to cuddle everything, particularly any babies younger than him.”

In June, Kensington Palace shared new pictures of Prince William with his three children to mark Father’s Day and the duke’s 38th birthday.

In one of the images, the duke is pictured lying on the ground as Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis climb on top of him.
