Helena Bonham Carter and Tim Burton split after 13 years
The pair have collaborated in films including Alice in Wonderland
Actress Helena Bonham Carter and Hollywood film director Tim Burton have separated after over a decade together, it has emerged.
Ms Carter’s representative told People magazine that the couple “separated amicably earlier this year”, ending a 13-year relationship.
The statement also asked for the couple’s privacy and that of their children to be respected at this time.
The pair met during the filming of Burton's 2001 remake of Planet of the Apes, in which Ms Bonham Carter played Ari, the daughter of Senator Sandar.
Since then they have collaborated extensively, including in Sweeney Todd in 2007, and 2010's Alice in Wonderland which both also featured long-time Burton favourite Johnny Depp.
During their relationship, Ms Bonham Carter, 48, and Mr Burton, 56, lived together in separate but attached dwellings in Hampstead, north London, with their two children, Billy Ray, 10, and Nell, 7. It is unclear whether their living arrangements have changed.
