While the ‘9 to 5’ may be a little outdated, a quarter of Britain's workers start their job after 5 pm, as most of us return home to enjoy the evening. They work through the night while the rest of the country sleep.

Research has found that amongst all the workers in Britain, over 7 million work night shifts, with the most common industries being transport and logistics (52%), followed by entertainment, leisure and hospitality (36%).

Renowned photographer David Hedges has used the Sony α7S  to produce the amazing series of low light images representing the 24 hours a day workforce.

To bring to light the efforts of workers who keep the country going at nights, he has portrayed a range of people, including railway engineers, taxi drivers, cleaners and policemen.
