The wife of a Harley Street dentist who was found dead in her Cambridgeshire home died of asphyxiation, a post mortem has found.

The body of Helen Nicoll, 53, was found in her home in Frog End, Great Wilbraham, by Cambridgeshire police last Friday, after neighbours reported hearing a “loud bang” at around 6:30am.

The death of the mother-of-three is being treated as unexplained by police.

A 53-year-old man who had been arrested on suspicion of murder and released on police bail has had his bail cancelled and told he will face no further action.

The man has been widely reported as Nicoll’s 53-year-old husband Stephen Nicoll.

A police spokesperson said: “The case has been passed to the coroner for an inquest, however police are still treating the death as unexplained and further tests and inquiries are being carried out to provide clarity over the circumstances of her death.”

Dr Nicoll and her husband were partners at a local Cambridgeshire dental clinic Hurst Park Dental Practice, but Mr Nicoll divided his time between the clinic and London’s Harley Street.
