Daniel Pena-Sanchez: Mother appeals for teenage son with heart problem to come home

A mother has appealed for her unwell son to come home, amid fears the teenager will not be able to cope in the wet, cold weather, after being missing for over three days.

Daniel Pena-Sanchez, 13, from Catford, south east London – who has a heart problem – disappeared after visiting King’s College Hospital, where he hid in a bin and then walked away.

The teenager is white, of Spanish origin, with short dark hair, and approximately 5ft tall and of slim build. He was last seen in the Denmark Hill area of Camberwell, south London, at 10am on Tuesday.

Officers who have investigated CCTV footage have confirmed that Daniel in a bin in De Crespigny Park and left two hours later, walking towards Camberwell.

He was wearing dark blue jeans, a white short sleeved polo shirt with a blue pattern, a black leather jacket and black basketball style trainers with green Nike tick.

Claudia Sanchez, Daniel’s mother, urged anyone who has seen a boy who looks like her son to contact the police.

She said: “I am really worried about Daniel and his welfare. He is not very well at present and he won't be able to cope with the wet and cold weather for very long. He is very weak at present and needs help.

Describing her son as a "clever, bright boy" she said Daniel loves reading, science and has often spoken of his aspiration of becoming a doctor.

She said: "We are a very close-knit family and he often buys me flowers and writes poems for me.

"Daniel, if you are reading this, please, please come home. We are all missing you."

Detective Inspector Ian Hamilton, of Lewisham CID, said: "We are aware that Daniel is very weak and needs help. We are urging anyone with information to contact police as soon as possible."
