12-year-old girl accidently runs half marathon
She completed the half-marathon in under three hours
A 12-year-old girl accidently ran a half marathon after ending up in the wrong road race.
LeeAdiancez Rodriguez, from New York, registered for the 5K run (3.1 miles) as part of Rochester Regional Health Flower City Challenge.
After arriving late at the start line, the race had already began, so she joined in with the rest of the runners.
The young girl had instead joined the half marathon runners on the 13.1 mile course (21 kilometres).
Ms Rodriguez said she had realised about four miles in she was in the wrong race, after asking another runner which race they were in.
Despite running for much long than she trained for, she decided to carry on and finish the race.
The young runner completed the half marathon in 2:43:31.
She had been training for two months in preperation for the 5K race.
