The popular crowd-funding service GoFundMe has removed a page seeking to raise money for the white South Carolina police officer charged with murdering after shooting an unarmed black man - only for campaigners to move it to another site.

Officer Michael Slager, 33, was charged with first-degree murder for killing 50-year-old Walter Scott after graphic video footage surfaced of the fatal encounter.

Slager is shown shooting Scott multiple times in the back as he attempted to flee the scene. The video also shows Slager apparently planting a taser next to Scott’s body.

An anonymous user created the fundraising page, titled the “Michael T. Slager Support Fund,” to ensure Slager has “the opportunity to a fair trial.”

“After review by our team, the campaign set up for Officer Slager was removed from GoFundMe due to a violation of our Terms and Conditions,” Kelsea Little, a GoFundMe spokesperson, told ThinkProgress.

Slager has since been fired from the police department.
