University could not afford Hillary Clinton’s appearance fee, hired Chelsea Clinton instead

The Democratic presidential candidate was $200,000 more than her daughter

The University of Missouri at Kansas City wanted to make a splash when it was opening a women’s hall of fame, so they tried to get Hillary Clinton to speak at the event.

Only they could not afford Hillary’s asking price: $275,000. Instead, the school opted to hire Chelsea Clinton, the former and possibly future First Daughter.

Chelsea’s appearance fee — $60,000 — apparently was easier to stomach and she made an appearance on 24 February, 2014, according to the Washington Post, which recently obtained documents from the university.

The younger Clinton and her staff reportedly were tough in negotiating her appearance at the school and the schedule they settled on included a 10-minute speech, a 20-minute Q&A session and 30 minutes posing for photos.

Chelsea made no personal profit off the appearance, as the fee was directed to the Clinton Foundation.

The school says the $65,000 fee was paid using private donations, not public funding.
