Welcome to The Independent’s live coverage of tonight’s Europa League quarter-final first leg between Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool.

It promises to be an emotional night. Jurgen Klopp returns to the club at which he built his reputation by winning back-to-back Bundesliga titles and reaching a Champions League final – a place where he will forever be remembered as an icon.

Considering the way his replacement Thomas Tuchel has his old team playing, though, he’ll be wary of a walkover.

Die Schwarzgelben dismantled Tottenham Hotspur in the last round and the team who many rate as the best left in this tournament could easily do the same to their old master’s Liverpool side.

33 min: More chances for Dortmund!

Mkhitaryan darts forward after being released by a lovely ball out of full-back by Piszczek.

He has options to pass to but instead decides to fire an effort on goal while off balance. It zips wide.

GOAL! DORTMUND 0 LIVERPOOL 1 (Origi)

Well, how about that? After all that Dortmund pressure, Liverpool counter and it's a cool, composed finish from Divock Origi.

He takes the ball from James Milner's flick-on, jostles for space with his marker and finds room to squeeze a low shot past Wiedenfeller.

44 min: The volume's been turned up to 11 at the original home of 'heavy metal' football since Origi's strike but, fortunately for Liverpool, the strike seems to muted Dortmund's attackers somewhat. They're having nothing like the same amount of space they had enjoyed before going behind. Thomas Tuchel has a job to do at full-time.

59 min: Reus takes, Mignolet holds. It's not the easiest catch but he takes it with both hands, down low to his left.

63 min: Delicious ball in behind the backline from the boot of Hummels leaves Liverpool all ends up but, fortunately, Sakho's on hand to get in between Reus and the goal.
