Manchester United were beaten by Feyenoord in their openining fixture of the Europa League. It was a mixed night for the visitors but one that ultimately ended in disappointment and a worrying sense of deja vu.

Despite threatening on occasion, United were distinctively average tonight. The visitors enjoyed only a handful of genuine chances on goal, with Martial coming closest in the first half, but as with last season United lacked creativity and dynamism in the middle. Rashford worked hard to create opportunities for his side, admittedly, but even he couldn't deliver this evening and he was substituted, perhaps unfairly, with 20 minutes to go. After two consecutive defeats, United will need to respond strongly in their next game to shake off the ghost of LVG...
