Liverpool are still in the hunt for new signings and the latest rumour is that they are prepared to take the fight to Manchester City to secure the signature of Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly.Sadio Mane is their secret weapon, with the Senegalese well-placed to persuade his national teammate to turn down a move to the Etihad in favour of Anfield before the window shuts in 10 days.
The club have already signed Thiago Alcantara and Diogo Jota last week, while long-term they have their eyes on a dream deal for Kylian Mbappe next summer. Watford’s Ismaila Sarr is a more realistic addition before next month’s deadline, while Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele, too, could be an option, though surely only a loan agreement could be reached for the French winger given the time frame and the Catalans still hoping to recoup most of the £124m they spent three years agoThe Reds must also decide on the futures of Georginio Wijnaldum and Rhian Brewster, who is reportedly of interest to Crystal Palace and Sheffield United. Here are the latest transfer rumours surrounding Anfield.

SARR OFF; DEMBELE ON?

We know Liverpool are no longer interested in Ismaila Sarr. Watford demanded too much money and besides, they have Diogo Jota now as back-up to the fab three up front.

But could they be launching an audatious bid for Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele? A report in Sport says Liverpool have made contact with Barca over a possible loan move for the young talent who has struggled with injuries since. his big-money move to the Nou Camp. It would be some signing.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM JOTA

Diogo Jota arrived from Wolves over the weekend as the Reds’ third signing of the summer.

‘Humble but ambitious’ Diogo Jota ready to prove his doubters wrong again

The Portuguese arrives as Liverpool’s third signing of the summer and while he may not be Thiago or Timo Werner, don’t rule out a similar impact

BREWSTER EYES PALACE

Top of the agenda is the future of Rhian Brewster.

The 20-year-old striker is looking for first-team football and with the arrival of Diogo Jota at Anfield this week, Jurgen Klopp has reportedly sanctioned Brewster’s sale.

Sheffield United are “mad keen” to sign Brewster, The Sun reports this morning, but the report also adds that Brewster’s preference is a permanent transfer to Crystal Palace.

Aston Villa are also in the race for a player who could add valuable goals to their respective seasons, having scored 10 last year at Swansea on loan in the Championship.
