The January transfer window is open but there has been a shortage of big-money moves so far, aside from Manchester United’s Amad Diallo in a £37m move from Atalanta.
With the coronavirus causing havoc with teams’ squads and the fixture schedule, there could be a temptation to secure strength in depth for what could be a frantic close to the season. Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham have dropped more points and now look to be embroiled in a battle for a top four finish, rather than a title race, and with their defence their weakness to date, Real Madrid defender Eder Militao – who is also wanted by AC Milan, inter and Roma – could be of interest. While Stuttgart’s Argentine forward Nicolas Gonzalez is another target, with Premier League side Leeds and La Liga outfit Valencia joining the pursuit of the former Argentinos Juniors star. Interestingly, Valencia are also thought to be keen on taking Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks on loan.
Elsewhere in north London, Arsenal have been priced out of a deal for Norwich’s Emi Buendia and so could move for Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma, though a summer switch appears more likely in this case, with the Seagulls close to securing Moises Caicedo from Independiente del Valle but expected to loan the 19-year-old to either Manchester United or Chelsea. Those powerhouses are also in a race to sign RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano, but Bayern Munich have joined that race.

BARCELONA COULD MAKE DALOT BID
Barcelona are considering an €11m offer for Manchester United full-back Diogo Dalot, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The 21-year-old is currently on loan at AC Milan, but the Serie A club are reportedly undecided over a permanent transfer after this season.
UNITED DEFENDER EXTENDS LOAN DEAL
Manchester United defender Di’Shon Bernard has extended his loan spell with Salford until the end of the season.
The 20-year-old has impressed with the League Two side so far this season, making 12 appearances and helping his side to fifth place.
NEWCASTLE LINKED WITH NAPOLI DEFENDER
Newcastle are interested in Napoli left-back Faouzi Ghoulam, according to Le Buteur.
The Algerian international has fallen out of favour with the Serie A club, who are reportedly open to offers.
Newcastle are searching for a full-back to provide competition for Jamal Lewis.
ROJO’S FORMER CLUB SHOW INTEREST IN UNITED DEFENDER
Marcos Rojo could be set for a return to former club Estudiantes, with Marca reporting that club president and ex-Manchester United midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron wants to sign the defender.
The 30-year-old had been expected to join Boca Juniors, while Mexican side Cruz Azul also showed interest.
But Estudiantes will reportedly match any offer from Boca and could have an advantage because of Rojo's history with the club.
KLOPP HAILS ‘OUTSTANDING’ UNITED SIGNING
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has heaped praise on Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes ahead of Sunday's top of the table clash between the two sides.
The Portugal international has been influential for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side since arriving from Sporting in January last year.
"He is an outstanding player," Klopp said.
"Before he joined United we played already Sporting on the US tour (in 2019) and in that game already you could see 'wow'.
"Obviously everybody knew him. You could really see he was a difference maker, that's what he shows now. He is settled, he's a very influential player for United, involved in a lot of things.
"People talk about the goal involvements, but the link-up and other situations as well. He seems to be a leader as well, so unfortunately a good signing for United."

MOYES REMAINS COY ON POTENTIAL JANUARY SIGNINGS
West Ham boss David Moyes has refused to be drawn on whether or not the club expect new arrivals this month.
"I'm looking at four wins in the next four games," he said, quoted by football.london. "That's what I'm looking at, nothing to do with any other players at other clubs, nothing to do with anything else. Winning the next four games in January if I can and making sure I do as well as I can, nothing else is that important.
"If something else comes along that can help us win games then we'll look at it but the people who are important are the players who are in this building at the moment.
“Winning the games [is most important] the players improving and doing better than they have done at the moment, that's what we want to do and that's the message. If something else comes along we'll soon let you know."
SPURS COULD TERMINATE ROSE CONTRACT
Tottenham could look to terminate Danny Rose's contract this month, claim the Daily Mail.
The 30-year-old has been frozen out of the first team by manager Jose Mourinho, only appearing for the Under-23s this season.
