Manchester City staged a sensational comeback from 2-0 down to retain the Premier League title with a dramatic 3-2 win over Aston Villa.
Needing to win to be assured of holding off Liverpool, City were in danger of blowing it as Matty Cash and former Reds star Philippe Coutinho struck at the Etihad Stadium. Yet Pep Guardiola’s side showed all their champion quality to rally with Ilkay Gundogan coming off the bench to score twice either side of a superb Rodri strike in a remarkable five-minute spell.
City had known that second-placed Liverpool, trailing by just a point, could overtake them with victory over Wolves and there were times in the afternoon when they lived on their nerves.
When they trailed by two, Liverpool were being held 1-1 and news of another goal at Anfield at that stage, could have been a hammer blow. Yet in remarkable final-day drama, City cast off the shackles of a dismal first-half display to turn the game around and render Liverpool’s eventual win academic.

84 mins: Now Liverpool go in front! A corner for the Reds is cleared off the line by Jonny but scramble in the box sees the ball bounce and bobble before falling to Mo Salah who turns it home.

81 mins: WHAT A TURNAROUND! City feed the ball up to Gabriel Jesus who can’t control it but gets lucky when the ball drops to Kevin De Bruyne. He dribbles and drives into the right side of the box before firing one across goal. Ilkay Gundogan pops up at the back post and taps it home.
Man City have a firm grip on the Premier League title now, from 0-2 down to 3-2 up!

78 mins: Mad scenes! Man City are back in it with after Rodri arrives at the edge of the box to meet a cutback and guide a side-footed shot into the bottom left-hand corner.
If Liverpool score they’ll win the league, City could do with another goal.

77 mins: There’s no way through for Liverpool and time is running out. Firmino sets the ball across to Salah who curls his shot into the hands of Ruddy.
GOAL! Man City 1 - 2 Aston Villa (Gundogan, 76’)⚽️
76 mins: Do not write them off! Pep Guardiola brings on Raheem Sterling and Ilkay Gundogan and the substitutions make the difference. Sterling weaves his way down the right wing and hangs the ball into the far side of the box. Gundogan leaps to meet the ball and heads it into the back of the net. Game on at the Etihad Stadium.

75 mins: Ruben Neves flicks the ball into the box for Wolves and finds Hwang Hee-chan who throws himself at the ball and heads his effort wide of the near post.
