LeBron James backs Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson to be on the cover of FIFA 16

Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson has found himself an unlikely backer in his quest to be put on the front cover of computer game FIFA 16.

Henderson drew some mocking by rival supporters when he was named among the four-man shortlist to be put alongside Lionel Messi on the cover of the popular game.

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero and Tottenham's Harry Kane are the other contenders for the fan vote.

But Henderson has had one of the most famous sportsmen in the world come out in support - NBA superstar LeBron James.

Speaking to his 21million fans on Facebook, the Cleveland Cavaliers star, also a minority shareholder in the club said: "[shout out] to my LFC family Jordan Henderson, you got my vote!!! James Gang always reps LFC on the virtual pitch #YNWA #VoteHenderson #IPROMISE #StriveForGreatness"

LeBron is a known fan of the Reds and a minor shareholder in the club.
