Manchester City will remind midfielder Phil Foden of his responsibilities after he was pictured breaking social-distancing rules.

Foden, 20, was seen playing football with members of the public and posing for a photograph on Formby beach.

Although Premier League players are allowed to take part in regulated contact training sessions with their clubs, UK government guidelines do not currently permit group exercise with people from outside one’s household.

Foden is one of several players to have broken lockdown rules. Last month his City teammate Kyle Walker apologised for hosting a party with sex workers at his house.

City are preparing for the resumption of the Premier League on 17 June, when they will host Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium with no spectators present.
