Liverpool have rejected an enquiry from Swansea City about the availability of their former midfielder Joe Allen on loan.
The Wales international arrived at Anfield in a deal worth around £15million in 2012 and now has 18 months left on his contract.
Allen, who was one of former manager Brendan Rodgers’ first signings at the club, was in line to receive a new deal until the Northern Irishman’s dismissal in October.
He has since seen his first-team opportunities limited following Jurgen Klopp’s appointment and started just once in the league under the former Borussia Dortmund head coach.

He has recently shown his worth to the side by notching a late equaliser in a 3-3 draw with Arsenal, as well as the opening goal in Wednesday night's 3-0 FA Cup victory over Exeter City.

Swansea are hopeful of strengthening their midfield following the sale of former Liverpool player Jonjo Shelvey to Newcastle for £12million.
The struggling south Wales outfit climbed out of the relegation zone on Monday after picking up a vital three points against Watford.
“That is something which has gone very quiet so I am not too sure really,” he said earlier this month when discussing talks over his contract.
“I have made only one league start this season and I want to play more, I think that is obvious for any player in that situation.
“From my point of view it is about knuckling down, doing my job and giving my best, which I always do.”
