West Ham are closing in on AC Milan’s Carlos Bacca after making a £25.7m bid for the Colombia striker, according to reports.

Talks are expected to take place between the player’s representatives and the club in the coming days as the Hammers continue to scout the market for a new striker.

The Colombia international has emerged as a top target for the London side as Slaven Bilic looks to bolster his front line.

If the reports are correct, West Ham’s offer will have trigged Bacca’s release clause which reportedly stands at £25.4m.

The former Sevilla striker has become available to sign this summer as Milan look to bring back Chelsea forward Diego Costa.

Bacca netted 18 Serie A goals last season and has been a regular start in the Milan outfit over the last four years.

Bilic has been attempting to bring in a top quality striker sooner rather than later on account of West Ham’s early start to the season.

Their football calendar gets underway towards the end of July due to Europa League qualifiers and the Croatian manager will be hoping that the majority of his business has been completed by then.

West Ham turned their attention to the 29-year-old after failing to sign Michy Batshuayi while they seem no closer to securing Alexandre Lacazette who looks set for a move to Arsenal.

The club also approached former striker Carlos Tevez but the Argentine rejected their £150,000-a-week offer.

The Hammers have enjoyed some transfer success so far though. They’ve already brought in winger Sofiane Feghouli on a free transfer and are reportedly close to signing Turkey international Gokhan Tore on a loan deal, with the option to buy at the end of the season.

The move for the Besiktas winger could be finalised by the end of the next week and a medical has already been pencilled in for the 24-year-old.
