Board meeting, anyone? It was just a normal day in the office for Tahiti's Tamaroa McComb yesterday, pictured here on his way to victory in round two of the Rangiroa Pro Junior surfing competition in the French Polynesian atoll of Rangiroa.

"Tubular!" is, apparently, in surfing vernacular, the affirmation that describes the scene here – known as "barrel riding", the exquisite moment when the encroaching wave entirely encircles the intrepid surfer navigating it.

Surfers from Australia and Tahiti topped the scoreboard after the first day. McComb is defending the title he won last year, with events ongoing until Wednesday. It may appear a fun job to the casual observer, but opportunities to forward on amusing emails are limited.
