Former Germany goalkeeper Tim Wiese has been officially unveiled as the WWE’s latest superstar recruit after he hung up his gloves and stepped into the ring.

Wiese made six appearances for Germany’s national team between 2008 and 2012, but was most famously Werder Bremen’s No 1 goallkeeper between 2005 and 2012 before moving to 1899 Hoffenheim for two seasons.

After retiring from professional football, the 32-year-old suddenly ballooned and put on an incredible amount of muscle, which prompted reports that he was planning to switch trades and move to the squared-circle to become a professional wrestler.

Well the day has finally arrived after WWE Deutschland’s official Twitter account unveiled their latest signing on Saturday.

The tweet said: “Tim Wiese makes his Entrance as a Special Time Keeper for @StardustWWE @Goldust vs @WWEUsos #WWEFrankfurt.”

Wiese made his appearance at a WWE live event in Frankfurt as par of the European Tour, and he was named as the official timekeeper for the match between The Usos and the Dust Brothers.

A few minutes before, WWE commentator Jim “JR” Ross tweeted that he was at Wiese’s tryout and is “hopeful” that he will become a success in the WWE.

“@NotSoAverageJoe: @JRsBBQ any thoughts on ex-goalkeeper Tim Weise??”, JR was asked by a fan, responding “I was at his tryout. Lots of charisma. #hopeful”
