Italy vs Ireland Six Nations as it happened: CJ Stander and Craig Gilroy star in easy nine-try victory
Ireland made light work of a limited Italy at the Stadio Olimpico
Ireland bounced back from their opening day defeat to Scotland by annihilating Italy at the Stadio Olimpico, running in nine tries as both CJ Stander and second-half substitute Craig Gilroy scored hat-tricks.
Italy were awarded a penalty try in the first-half, but had absolutely no answer to Ireland in the second, as they conceded five tries without reply.

Italy and Ireland will hope to get off the mark when they meet in Roma after both teams made losing starts to the Six Nations championship , though Joe Schmidt’s side head to Italy as heavy favourites for the encounter.
Ireland suffered something of an upset in the Six Nations curtain-raiser last weekend as they left Scotland on the wrong end of a 27-22 result at Murrayfield. Having entered the championship as second favourites behind England, the Irish saw their Grand Slam hopes end just 80 minutes into the tournament, and are now required to win all four of their remaining matches if they are to have any chance of winning the championship.
Italy meanwhile were leading Wales at half-time in Rome, only to concede 30 unanswered points after the break to suffer a disappointing 33-7 loss to Wales.
The Italians last beat Ireland 22-15 in the 2013 Six Nations , and will hope to repeat the feat if they are to capitalise on their home advantage this year, having already seen one of their three chances to win at the Stadio Olimpico go begging last week.
Here’s everything you need to know about the match.

12 mins: TRY! Keith Earls breaks the deadlock and gives Ireland the lead!
13 mins: It was coming. Again Stander drives forward to make up some valuable inches, and again Italy concede the advantage for straying offside. It doesn't matter: Murray plays it to Jackson who offloads to Earls, and he has a simple finish out wide.
Jackson adds the extras.
15 mins: Disappointing from Ireland. Italy kick long but Ireland stray offside from Murray's attempted box-kick, and they concede an immediate penalty in kickable range.
16 mins: PENALTY SCORED. Simply kick for Canna, just outside the Irish 22m line.
18 mins: Great work from debutant Scannell, as he wins the ball from Jackson's very shallow restart. Ireland maintain their early pressure and Henshaw does well out wide, skipping past a couple of tackles as Ireland breach the Italian 22m line once again.
19 mins: TRY! Beautiful offload from Jamie Heaslip! It opens up a big overlap out wide, and the very impressive CJ Stander is the man to dive over the try-line.
20 mins: Paddy Jackson shanks his conversion, and yet it still somehow goes between the posts. Ireland lead 14-3.
22 mins: Italy have their first lineout of the match following the restart and oh dear what a mess - Ghiraldini's throw is poor and Toner very nearly snatches it. Italy retain possession but Padovani then runs into touch, giving Ireland another chance to press forward.
24 mins: Collectors item alert: Simon Zebo has just made a mistake!
Zebo has made a good start to the game
The wing has made a very impressive start to this match but sends his attempted Garryowen directly out of play. Fortunately for Ireland the Italian lineout is utterly hapless, and the ball is knocked forward for an Irish scrum.
26 mins: Zebo immediately atones for that rare lapse in judgement with a sparkling run down the wing, and he runs, hops and skips Ireland back into the Italian 22m.
O'Brien makes up some valuable yards with some hard running, and Paddy Jackson sends a looping pass out wide...
