Amazon is set to reveal a new "top of the line" Kindle e-reader next week, the company's founder and chief executive Jeff Bezos has said.

Writing on Twitter on Monday evening, Bezos said: "Heads up readers - all-new, top of the line Kindle almost ready. 8th generation. Details next week."

The new device will likely be a follow-up to the seventh-generation Kindle Voyage, Amazon's current flagship e-reader, which was released at the end of 2014.

There's few other details about the new Kindle, with Amazon keeping everything under wraps until the big reveal.

It's also not clear whether next week's announcement will be a full launch or just an unveiling, but Amazon usually only announces new products when they're ready for release to the public.
