Dixons in Swedish sell-off

The owner of Currys and PC World has agreed to sell one of its Scandinavian businesses for £14.1m as part of plans to rationalise its portfolio of brands. Dixons Retail is to offload Webhallen, a Swedish retailer of games and media products, to Komplett, the Norwegian online firm. The move is part of Dixons' plans to revitalise its struggling internet business Pixmania, which counts Webhallen as a subsidiary.

Energis buys Swiss telecoms group

ENERGIS, the UK's largest carrier of Internet traffic and telecoms supplier to Dixons' Freeserve, announced yesterday it had agreed to acquire the entire share capital of Zurich-based group Unisource Carrier Services (UCS) for pounds 60m in cash. The acquisition, Energis's first outside the UK, will be funded from the proceeds of a pounds 250m high-yield bond issued by the company in May.
