Departures: Flying to Warsaw
MRS M POLAK of London W3 asks why there are no longer direct flights between London and Warsaw: 'The lack of a direct connection is inconvenient for the elderly, disabled people and families with young children.'
British Airways says that last year it wanted to double its daily flights from London to Warsaw from one to two. The Polish government and the national airline, LOT, objected, and from 31 October flights between the cities were suspended.
Discussions are still taking place but there is no immediate prospect of services being resumed. Travellers wishing to fly to Warsaw have no alternative but to go via Prague, Berlin, Copenhagen or Frankfurt.
