With scenic views, fine dining and spectacular history on offer, the readers of Condé Nast Traveler named the Il Salviatino in Fiesole-Florence, Italy the best hotel in Europe.

In the 2014 Travel Awards, readers judged the best hotels by the cities that host them, the views that accompany your stay, and of course, the price.

The hotel sits on the outskirts of Florence in Fiesole, so it’s far enough away from the city to enjoy some peace and quiet on a relaxing vacation with an amazing view. With a free shuttle service taking you straight into Florence in as little as 15 minutes, you don’t have to worry about missing out on the sites the wonderful city has to offer, like Michelangelo’s David or the Fountain of Neptune. A one night stay at the 45 room villa hotel costs from £250.

The hotel voted in second place by Conde Nast readers was the Castello di Casole in Tuscany, Italy. This hotel was chosen for its beautiful tenth century architecture, the outstanding view of Tuscany and the adjoining 4,200 acre wine estate.

The third best hotel in Europe was announced as the Palazzo Avino in Ravello, Italy. Yet another Italian hotel praised for its architectural beauty, the Palazzo Avino’s picturesque view along the Amalfi Coast really helps it stand out.
