Every week we invite competing companies to give us their best deal for a specified holiday. Today: a week self-catering in Sicily, departing on 12 September; prices are for two people travelling together.

thinkSicily

£1,900: La Riva, Taormina. Includes one home-cooked Sicilian meal, but not flights. "La Riva is right on Taormina's idyllic beach. With excellent sea-front restaurants on the doorstep and Taormina's delightful centre just a cable car ride away, its location is hard to beat," says thinkSicily's Huw Beaugie. (020-7377 8518; thinksicily.com).

Long Travel

£1,075: Villa Pina, Alia. Includes flights from Stansted to Palermo and a week's car hire. "Although it's self-catering, Villa Pina's on-site restaurant serves fantastic 'agritourist' food – typically Sicilian, rustic and wholesome. Meals can be booked at a special price for Long Travel clients of €18 per person. Being a working farm, guests can also learn how to make ricotta and visit the animals, as well as go walking, horse-riding or swimming in the lovely pool," says Laura Long of Long Travel. (01694 722193; long-travel.co.uk)

€800: Badia Tower, Marsala. Flights not included. "This offers the chance to stay in a romantic private tower for two in the gardens of an aristocratic estate, close to the sandy beaches of San Vito lo Capo and some of Sicily's magnificent Greek ruins," says soloSicily's Gioacchino Sortino.
