Singapore's Changi Airport has been awarded the "Airport of the Year" by Skytrax, adding yet another gong to its long list.

The airport also took the titles for Best Airport Leisure Amenities and Best Airport Asia, awarded by SkyTrax on the basis of 9.8 million traveler surveys. Seoul's Incheon Airport came a close second place in the global rankings, followed by Hong Kong International. The awards were handed out at a ceremony in Brussels on March 23.

Auckland Airport was awarded best airport for the Australia/Pacific region, whilst Munich Airport took Europe's Best Airport. Vancouver Airport won Best Airport for North America, and Lima Jorge Chavez Airport took Best Airport in South America. Cape Town was named the best airport in Africa and also won the Airport Staff Service Excellence Award.

Abu Dhabi International Airport was judged to be the most Improved airport, jumping 47 positions in the rankings to the overall place of number 26. The airport credited the win to its multi-billion dollar investment program, which saw the new Terminal 3 launched in 2009. It has also opened 19 new boutiques, new restaurants, free wifi for all travelers and new parking areas in the last 12 months.
