The new austerity is upon us, so there’s never been a better time to read Click, Pack & Go. Let’s start with Cathay Pacific’s 30th anniversary fare sale. You’ll get the idea pretty quickly: 30 discounted destinations for 30 days. So you can visit the likes of Hong Kong from £609 return, Manila from £649 return, or Sydney from £789 return, provided you book from 1 July to 30 July and are prepared to travel from 1 November-30 November 2010, or 26 April-31 May 2011. More information from www.cathaypacific.co.uk.

However, splendid though these destinations might sound they aren’t quite as austere as they could be. Happily, sunshine is freely available. Budget-conscious families can commemorate the start of the Tour de France with a road-trip of their own. Canvas Holiday ( www.canvasholidays.co.uk) is offering a nine-night multi-centre trip to Southern Brittany for £788 per family (accommodation only), with two adults and up to four children staying in a maxi tent. The suggested itinerary includes two nights at Camping Ty-Naden in Arzano, three nights at Camping la Grande Metairie, Carnac and four nights at Camping la Pointe St Gilles, Benodet.

Hotels.com ( www.hotels.com) is running a 40 per cent sale until 4 August, with the likes of the five-star Hotel Dom Pedro Palace in Lisbon on offer at £80 per double per night, reduced from £142, or the three-star Century Plaza Hotel & Spa in Vancouver, Canada on offer for £90 per double per night, reduced from £149.

Alternatively, Kirker Holidays ( www.kirkerholidays.com) is offering three nights for the price of two at the four-star Le Regent Contades hotel in Strasbourg. The price of £462 per person is a saving of £80 and B&B, plus Leisure Select Eurostar and TGV travel.

Or you could put some proper effort in. Explore ( www.explore.co.uk) has an eight-day cycling tour along the Elbe river through the Czech Republic and Germany for £820 including flights, all transport, seven-nights B&B and guiding. Departs 12 September.

The cruising holiday market is still producing bargains. Dealchecker ( www.dealchecker.co.uk) is offering an 11-night cruise to the Canary Islands from Southampton onboard the Independence of the Seas. The price of £699 includes coach transfers; book by 7 July for travel on 10 December.

Keep heading west, and you’ll end up in the Caribbean. Travelbag ( www.travelbag.co.uk) is offering a seven-night all-inclusive break to Tobago from £699 per person, including accommodation at the three-star Tropikist Beach Hotel and return flights from Gatwick with Virgin Atlantic. Bookings must be made before 20 July 2010 for travel in the low season between 1 September and 31 November 2010.

Otherwise, blow your non-existent bonus on a summer holiday in the alps. BA ( ba.com) will take you to St Moritz and put you up in the five-star Kempinski Grand from just £490 per person for three nights, based on July departures. Austerity never felt so good.
