Norwegian Cruise Line has announced plans for the world's first at-sea tweetup for cruise-loving social media enthusiasts.

The SeaTweetup will be a three-night cruise around the Bahamas, departing Miami on November 18, and is billed by the organizers as the world's meeting for Twitter users at sea.

It will be hosted by Norwegian Cruise Line's 2,002-passenger Norwegian Sky and is organized by, among others, social media TV show SocialBuzzTV and digital media consultants Social Esquire.

Twitter users on the cruise will be encouraged to tweet their experiences throughout the voyage using the ship's on-board wifi, as well as participating in networking events such as panel discussions on social media.

There will also be several port calls with special events, including being among the first to get a look at Norwegian Cruises' 250-acre private island Great Stirrup Cay, which is currently undergoing a $20 million upgrade.

The cruise starts from $271.32 per person, rising to $999 for a Penthouse suite with large balcony.

Cruise lines have enthusiastic followed hotel brands and airlines into the social media world, encouraging their customers and fans to participate in chats via Twitter accounts such as Norwegian's @NCLFreestyle, @royalcaribbean and   @cunardline.
