Great getaways: Coachella, Miami and Barbados, half-term in the Algarve, and Dubrovnik

Virgin Holidays has a deal for those who managed to get their hands on tickets for the Coachella festival in California. Instead of slumming it at a campsite in the searing desert heat, retire to the five-star Westin Mission Hills in Palm Springs for five nights of luxury room-only accommodation, paying £1,199pp with flights from Heathrow to Los Angeles on either 11 April or 18 April, car hire included. Coachella runs over two weekends from 12-14 April and 19-21 April. Festival tickets not included (virginholidays.co.uk).

On 10 February, Trailfinders has a twin-centre holiday that combines two nights in Miami, staying at the Ocean Five Hotel with breakfast, and a week in Barbados with room-only accommodation at the Butterfly Beach Hotel for £969pp. The price includes flights from Heathrow with American Airlines and connecting flights (trailfinders.com).

Book by 7 February and Mark Warner has a range of good value summer holidays in Europe, if you travel during term time. A week's half-board at The Ocean Club Beach in Portugal's Algarve costs £610pp with flights from Gatwick on 1, 8 or 15 June. A week in Corsica at the San Lucianu resort, also with half-board and Gatwick flights on 1, 8, 15 or 22 June costs £624pp. (markwarner.co.uk).

British Airways Holidays currently has a range of spring city breaks, including two nights in Dubrovnik for £199pp. The package includes flights from Gatwick between 14 to 30 April and half-board accommodation at the Kompas Hotel on Lapad Bay, which has a rooftop pool overlooking the Adriatic (ba.com).
