Great getaways: Rome, Sharm el-Sheikh, Tuscany and Marrakech
Eternal city
Extend your bank holiday break with a three-night escape to Rome. The trip with Kuoni departs on 27 August with BA flights from Gatwick, and includes a B&B stay at the Hotel Oxford for £499 per person. Despite the hotel's distinctly un-Italian sounding name, it's located just off the Corso d'Italia, close to the Villa Borghese park – home to an art gallery, temples, fountains and landscaped gardens (kuoni.co.uk).
Sheikh it
Hayes & Jarvis has two five-star breaks to Sharm el-Sheikh for £599 per person. Both include Thomson Airways flights from Luton, transfers and a week's B&B accommodation – but the choice of hotel is yours. Opt for either The Ritz-Carlton, which departs on 17 September, or The Savoy, leaving three days later on 20 September (hayesandjarvis.co.uk).
Tuscan trail
Take in the beauty of Tuscany on a week-long walking tour with Ramblers Worldwide. Departing on 14 October, the trip costs £679 per person with BA flights from Heathrow to Pisa, half-board at the Hotel Giardini in San Marcello, transfers and a tour leader throughout. It also includes a tutored wine tasting session and cooking class at the hotel, along with a day trip to Florence (ramblersholidays.co.uk).
Magical Marrakech
See the seductive sights of Marrakech in early September. Trailfinders has a five-night break to the Moroccan city staying at the Hotel Kenzi Tichka with breakfast for £459 per person. This price includes easyJet flights from Gatwick on 4 September and transfers (trailfinders.com).
