Bargain of the week: Portugal for under £100 return

Flights from Gatwick and Heathrow to the Portuguese cities of Lisbon and Porto, are being sold for £98 and £89 return respectively, on TAP Air Portugal (0870 607 0535; www.tap-airportugal.co.uk). There is also a fare of £99 from Heathrow to the Algarve airport, Faro. You must book at least a month in advance, and stay a Saturday night or a minimum of three nights during the week.

Warning of the week: body and Seoul – think twice before renting a car in South Korea

The Canadian government has issued a warning to travellers about the dangers of driving in the South Korean capital, Seoul, and beyond: "South Korea has one of the highest rates of traffic death in the world. Car drivers are presumed to be at fault in accidents involving motorcycles or pedestrians. Criminal charges and heavy penalties are common when accidents result in injury, even if guilt is not proven."

Destination of the week: Eindhoven

A major modern-art museum reopens tomorrow after a two-year expansion project. The Van Abbemuseum (00 31 40 238 1000; www.vanabbemuseum.nl) features works by, among others, Picasso, Chagall and Mondrian. Fly to Eindhoven on Ryanair (0871 246 0000; www.ryanair.com) from Stansted; fares for midweek flights in February are currently around £25 return.

Descent of the week: Wales from beneath

The Principality has no fewer than 12 tourist attractions that involve going underground. They range from the Big Pit – the National Mining Museum of Wales – at Blaenavon, to the Great Orme Copper Mine near Llandudno.
