Travel Agenda: Jersey Spring Walking Week; Vivanta by Taj hotel; Festival of Britain; Sea Life London Aquarium; No 1 Gatwick North; Glastonbury

Today: Pull on your hiking boots: Jersey Spring Walking Week gets underway. Over 40 routes invite hikers to explore the Channel island, whether it's with a Blue Badge guide, in a group or under your own steam; until 21 May ( jersey.com). Meanwhile, check into the newly-opened Vivanta by Taj hotel in Srinagar, Kashmir. The region's first luxury, design-focused property overlooks Dal Lake ( vivantabytaj.com).

This week: London goes hot and cold. First, as part of the 60th anniversary celebrations of the Festival of Britain, the South Bank will enjoy an Indian summer with a recreation of Mumbai's Chowpatty Beach and Dishoom Cafe; to 13 September ( dishoom.com). And a short stroll along the Thames, the Sea Life London Aquarium will unveil the Ice Adventure on Wednesday, complete with resident gentoo penguins ( visitsealife.com/London). On Tuesday, the "super lounge" No 1 Gatwick North opens with a bistro, spa and business centre; three hours' access is available for £20 per person ( no1traveller.com).

In the diary: Glastonbury may have sold out seven months ago, but there's still a way to get behind the infamous "super fence" this summer. Step forward the Podule – a collection of upmarket bedsits situated on a farm next to the festival site. The price of £3,960 for two comes with food and drink, and a pair of backstage tickets. Podules are also available at other festivals in the UK ( bookmypodule.com).
