Travel Agenda: Milan's Giorgio Armani hotel; Southbank Winter Festival; Valencia Restaurant Week; Bath Christmas Market; Hilary Bradt


Today: Check into the latest hotel by Giorgio Armani, in the Italian fashion capital, Milan, complete with 95 spacious guestrooms (armanihotels.com). In London, the Southbank Winter Festival gets under way with cultural events that take in a winter garden grotto, festive lights, a musical and an exhibition (southbankcentre.co.uk/winter).

This week: Spain's third- largest city celebrates its culinary credentials. Valencia Restaurant Week runs from Monday to Sunday, with 80 restaurants offering special €20 and €30 menus, plus vineyard tours, wine tastings and demonstrations from Michelin-starred chefs in the food market (vlcrestaurantweek.com). Meanwhile, the Bath Christmas Market opens on Thursday, with 130 wooden chalets selling handmade gifts, decorations, hampers, West Country cheeses and mulled wine until 11 December (bathchristmasmarket.co.uk).
