Today: Vinopolis in Bankside, London is hosting a Tastes of Argentina event. Expect steak and Malbec masterclasses, wine tastings, Tango demonstrations and Argentinean food ( tiny.cc/DDWoR ).

In the diary: Book into the latest luxury hotel in Hong Kong. The Mira Hotel reopens on 17 September after a multi-million dollar facelift and will feature rooms with hand-picked fabrics, Arne Jacobsen chairs and Bose "soundscapes", as well as a rooftop garden and spa ( themirahotel.com ).

This week: Liverpool's Food & Drink festival begins tomorrow in Sefton Park; Malmaison, 60 Hope Street and 50 other top suppliers will provide dishes and drinks for the official launch, from 10.30am to 5pm – along with live music, cookery demonstrations from top chefs and a beer tent ( liverpoolfoodanddrinkfestival.co.uk ). Also starting tomorrow is the Istanbul Biennale. 120 projects from 40 countries will be exhibited in the city until 8 November ( iksv.org ).
