It's sales season for US airlines, with Virgin America, Delta, Southwest and AirTran all announcing fall sales bonanzas for customers.
Southwest Airlines' summer sale started July 20 and offers nationwide one-way fares from $49 (€38), valid on Tuesdays and Wednesdays between September 7 and December 14, 2010.
Delta's sale is for both national and international tickets and runs until July 29 (travel must be completed by November 17) and includes routes between the US and China, Australia, Greece, Netherlands, France and Argentina.
Both Virgin America and AirTran are launching sale fares to Florida this fall, with AirTran's available for travel from August 23 and Virgin's starting from October 6.
Airline analysts predict that this year's sales will be a little deeper than normal as growth in business travel hasn't rebounded as quickly as airlines were expecting, meaning that there are more empty seats to be filled.
